Almost every restaurant that we have visited, has had its own garden. They leave nothing to chance here in terms of supply. We've now hit the 'country-side' and came across Wild Flower bakery in Occidental en route to Russian River. A beautiful Tree Crop Farm style garden, with a cranking bakery. The ginger and lavender scone - unbelievable. Throughout the 2 hour trip north (vai the coast, barren hill country and some forrests), the little towns are all beautifully restored, and have amazing grocers and little delis - plus barbeque oysters! AND - there are 4th of July deocrations everywhere. Its going to be big! Nationalism is alive and well.
